Hello,
How far does the broccoli you eat travel before it hits
your plate? Many of the 'fresh' vegetables available on
supermarket shelves in the UK are sourced in Africa
and have travelled 4,000 and 6,000 miles
to be with us.
Who wants to eat food that's got more frequent flyer
points than we do? Last week we spent a tasty
three days at the Speciality Fine Food show in London
and noticed that the hot topic of conversation was
foodmiles. Give it some thought the next time you
reach out
for something on the shelf. Try local- it tasted pretty
good to us.

What makes Britain truly British? Marmite and Minis?
Bobbies and black cabs? Perhaps, but that's not
the half of it. Truth is that today's true Brit loves
bhangra as much as bangers and is as likely to be
from the West Indies as the West Country. True Brit or
Truly British?
From 5th September to 15th October, Harrods
highlights the best of Britain.
Our range of Tea and Philosophy is now on sale in the
Harrods foodhall. We will be sharing our teas with
Harrods customers each day between 11am
and 5pm this week. Pop in for a cuppa and a chat.

Lovemarks are a new way of thinking about the things
we love. Lovemarks are better than brands, because
they are about Love and Respect: they speak to us as
thinking and feeling human beings.
We were recently voted as a company
that goes beyond being just a product. They called us a
'lovemark'.
If you have a product or brand that you love more
than you should, it can registered online. Probably just
another ad man's new idea, but we were flattered
anyhow.

We get lots of inspirational letters from people
who want to share what they do in their lives. we
thought we would share this one from Pi who lives in
Spain.
Keep up the good work Pi.
"As you can see i'm involved in lots of things, just
nice
and happy for making a good life.
I'm sending you photos from my work in Senegal
which is a fantastic sanitary project working in a
hospital and offering free assistance and medication
because Senegal has a private health only." Pi-M

Light, lemony, and full of coconut
and cream cheese this cake is a showstopper! This is
one of those recipes that you need to put directly into
your recipe file and bake without delay.
Thanks Leslie for the recipe, it is every bit as good as
you said it would be.
