. . . . . . . . .

A couple of years ago when I was travelling around Scotland, my friends and I found ourselves searching for a place to have lunch. It was late in the afternoon and freezing cold. All we wanted was a bowl of hot soup and some crusty bread. We found a found a cosy cafe and sat ourselves down. When we asked what the Soup of the Day was, our waitress replied that the soup had finished. Our faces dropped. She saw our reaction and offered us tomorrow's soup instead. Tomorrow's soup was Carrot and Coriander and it was delicious.

When I started Today was Fun it was my misson to share some fun and wisdom with the world. Over the last two years we've done exactly that. (If you haven't heard about our Tea and Philosophy then there's a link on the right just for you). As we continually have more ideas than there's time to develop them into products I thought we'd make a big pot of soup. Each month we'll throw in all our ideas and our friends ideas too. Seasoned with a little wisdom it should be tasty. We hope you enjoy Tomorrow's Soup and share it with everyone you know. Happy slurping. Sharyn

Thoreau was a guy who loved living in the wilderness and had some fairly unique ideas on life. We're not too sure how he spent his January. We think he probably sat down with one of his closest philosopher mates, threw another log on the fire, sharpened his pencil and mapped out the direction he was going to take for the next twelve months.

January is definitely the month to be inspired, wipe the slate clean and think about the possibilities of the coming year. It's time to get creative, and dream; this is what we recommend you do.

    • Chose someone who believes in you and who you believe in.
    • Agree on a inspired place and make a date to meet up-somewhere you can sit all afternoon and drink pots of tea is ideal.
    • Take a pen and lots of note paper.
    • At the top of the first page note the location and date.
    • Write down your friend's wildest dreams and silliest imaginings. Record all their ramblings in as much detail as possible. Don't forget to note what kind of roses are growing on the wall of the villa or exactly what the profit share is going to be for the next quarter.
    • When they are done, hand over the pen and let them do the same for you.
    • Take your dreams and store them in a safe place for 12 months.

The best part of this exercise comes in 12 months time when you make a follow up date. You repeat steps 2-7 only resorting to step one if your chosen friend was successful in all their plans and hasn't written since. Before you begin, take out your goals from the previous year and see just how many things you can tick off the list. You will also be amazed at how many you changed your mind on.Be gentle on yourself, besides Lear jets are so last year darling. If there are things on your list that you are still keen on but didn't manage to make them happen then simply roll them over to your 2005 list.

Need a safe place? send them to us.

    Today's all we've got, and that's a lot.

Yes, that's right. Today is all we've actually got, or to be more precise, this moment. So why not do something today that will make a positive difference in the world? Here's one idea, we'd love to hear your ideas too.

Arrange a time to do something with a child which will create a positive memory and hopefully a lasting impression on their lives - such as teaching them something simple or doing a new activity. I still remember the person who taught me to sew.
